hyperframes-cli skill

A command guide for the HyperFrames CLI: scaffold, check, snapshot, edit the timeline, preview, render locally or in the cloud, and recover from failures.

Our verdict Recommended with caveats

A clear, useful command guide, but it instructs the agent to post feedback to a public channel after renders and the CLI telemetry is on by default, so decide on that before installing.

The files of this skill changed on GitHub after our review (noticed Oct 29, 2026). The review describes the earlier version; we recheck changed skills weekly, the most significant changes first.

What the hyperframes-cli skill does

hyperframes-cli teaches an agent the npx hyperframes commands by job rather than as a flat reference. A table maps each job to commands: start (init, capture <url>), read a project (info, timeline --json), check it (lint and check --json as the gate for lint, runtime, layout and contrast), look at it (snapshot, keyframes, compare), edit the timeline (move, trim, split, set, undo), reuse blocks (catalog, add), media commands, and ship (preview, render, publish, cloud, lambda, cloudrun).

The skill sets a loop: write, lint, run check and fix every error, snapshot and read the PNGs, open the preview and wait for the person, then render with a quality preset and verify the file's duration against the composition. Timeline edits can be previewed with --plan, applied in batches from a JSON file, and undone from a receipt, and a project history lets the agent see what the person changed between turns. Thirteen files include reference pages for scaffolding, preview and render options, upkeep commands, and feedback reports. There are no scripts. The skill also tells the agent to send a feedback rating after each verified render and a report whenever the person asks for something HyperFrames cannot do, unless telemetry is disabled.

Good for

  • Agents driving HyperFrames projects from the terminal
  • Debugging failed checks and renders using the CLI's JSON output
  • Moving from a local preview to cloud, Lambda or Cloud Run rendering

Not for

  • Projects not built on HyperFrames
  • Users who do not want an agent submitting feedback reports to the project

Depth 3/5

A 7 KB SKILL.md plus 12 reference pages organized by task, with no scripts or tests of its own.

Dependencies and costs

  • Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg
  • HeyGen sign-in for cloud rendering and plan usage (optional)
  • Cloud accounts for lambda or cloudrun renders (optional)
  • Telemetry: The CLI collects usage counters by default, anonymous until HeyGen sign-in and then linked to your account; disable with npx hyperframes telemetry disable or HYPERFRAMES_NO_TELEMETRY=1. The skill tells the agent to send feedback reports through npx hyperframes feedback (to a public channel, with paths stripped) unless telemetry is off.

Broad access

This skill asks for more access than most, or sends data to another service. That is usually a design choice rather than bad intent, but you should know before you install it.

  • Uploads your data by defaultAfter every verified render the agent is told to run npx hyperframes feedback with a rating and comment, and to file a MISSING FEATURE report describing what the person asked for, without asking each time (skipped only if telemetry is disabled or the user opted out); the file says feedback goes to a public channel and to redact paths and identifiers.skills/hyperframes-cli/references/feedback.md:3

Markdown-only guide to the HyperFrames CLI for scaffolding, checking, rendering locally or in the cloud, and publishing HTML video projects. The CLI sends usage telemetry that links to your HeyGen account after sign-in unless disabled, and the skill tells the agent to submit feedback reports automatically after renders. Cloud render and publish upload your project to HeyGen on request; the CLI itself was not reviewed.

Worth knowing

  • Sends usage data by default (can be turned off)The CLI sends usage counters by default, anonymous until HeyGen sign-in and then linked to your HeyGen email and username; opt out with npx hyperframes telemetry disable, HYPERFRAMES_NO_TELEMETRY=1 or DO_NOT_TRACK=1.skills/hyperframes-cli/references/upgrade-info-misc.md:108
  • Relies on a CLI or package we could not reviewEverything runs through npx hyperframes <command> (HyperFrames npm CLI, Node 22+ and FFmpeg), whose code is not in the skill folder.skills/hyperframes-cli/SKILL.md:10
  • Runs remote code at an unpinned versionStandalone installs run npx hyperframes without a version, and the upgrade reference tells the agent to probe with npx hyperframes@latest; plugin installs use a launcher pinned to the plugin release.skills/hyperframes-cli/SKILL.md:10
  • Makes network requestscloud render zips and uploads the project to HeyGen, publish uploads project source to a hosted URL (private unless --public), and lambda / cloudrun render in your own AWS or GCP account.skills/hyperframes-cli/references/cloud.md:3
  • Needs an API key for its own serviceHeyGen credentials (HEYGEN_API_KEY or an OAuth login stored in ~/.heygen/credentials, mode 0600) are used for HeyGen's API.skills/hyperframes-cli/references/cloud.md:19
  • Installs packages or toolsThe CLI installs a browser (browser ensure), and init / skills update install further skills into the agent's skills folder.skills/hyperframes-cli/references/doctor-browser.md:73

What we checked

The skill folder (13 files) on Oct 29, 2026. Not a full review: it relies on code outside the repository: npm package hyperframes (HyperFrames CLI, run through npx); heygen CLI used for sign-in; AWS / GCP tooling used by lambda and cloudrun renders.

NVIDIA SkillSpector static scan: 231 pattern hits (MCP Rug Pull 181, Memory Poisoning 47, Tool Misuse 1, Privilege Escalation 1, Excessive Agency 1). Hits are documentation: '--no-confirm' and '~/.aws/credentials' appear in cloud/lambda reference text and 'events' is the CLI's own telemetry subcommand the skill tells the agent not to run. The folder is Markdown only.

Can it run unattended?

Not really. It documents commands and a stop-at-preview loop; the person approves the preview before the final render.

FAQ

What is the hyperframes-cli skill?

It is a skill that documents the HyperFrames command-line tool by task: scaffolding a project, checking it, taking frame snapshots, editing the timeline, previewing and rendering locally or in the cloud. It is one of the four core skills in the HyperFrames repo.

How do I install hyperframes-cli?

Run npx hyperframes skills update, which installs the core set including this skill, or npx skills add heygen-com/hyperframes and pick the Core Skills group. The CLI itself needs Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg.

Does hyperframes-cli send data?

The CLI's usage counters are on by default, and the skill tells the agent to send feedback reports after renders. Run npx hyperframes telemetry disable or set HYPERFRAMES_NO_TELEMETRY=1 to turn both off.

hyperframes-cli vs the hyperframes skill: which do I need?

The hyperframes skill holds the video rules and workflow, while hyperframes-cli lists the commands and how to read their output. Install both; the README treats them as a core set with the registry and media-use skills.
