Stitch Skills (Google Labs) Claude skills

Google Labs' 16 skills for the Stitch design tool: generate screens, extract design systems, and convert Stitch designs to React, React Native and more.

Our verdict Recommended

Official, Apache-2.0 and consistently structured; useful if Stitch is already your design tool, otherwise there is little to use.

What Stitch Skills (Google Labs) does

Stitch Skills are agent skills for Google Stitch, a UI design tool, and they require the Stitch MCP server to be configured with credentials. They are split into three plugins. stitch-design covers generating screens from text or images, managing design systems, extracting a DESIGN.md or static HTML from source code or a running app (using Puppeteer), converting code into a Stitch design, and uploading assets with a Python script that calls the Stitch REST API. stitch-build converts Stitch screens into Vite and React components, React Native components, a React and Vite dashboard, a Remotion walkthrough video, and shadcn/ui setups; the React skills download designs through a curl script and validate output with Node scripts and AST checks. stitch-utilities holds design-md (the most installed), enhance-prompt, site-md, taste-design, and stitch-loop, an iterative build loop that passes a baton file between iterations. Instructions are written as mandatory gated steps. SKILL.md files average 8.5 KB and several have references. Install through Codex marketplaces, npx plugins for Claude Code and Cursor, npx skills, or by copying folders for OpenCode.

Good for

  • Teams designing in Stitch who want the result turned into React or React Native code
  • Extracting a DESIGN.md from an existing codebase
  • Generating multi-page sites with the stitch-loop pattern

Not for

  • Anyone not using Stitch (the skills depend on its MCP server)
  • Design work in Figma or other tools

What's inside depth 3/5

16 skills averaging 8.5 KB with references and a handful of scripts (fetch, validate, extract, upload), but no tests or evals.

Dependencies and costs

  • Stitch MCP server with credentials
  • Node.js (validation and snapshot scripts, Puppeteer)
  • Python 3 for the upload script
  • A Stitch API key for the upload and design-system scripts

Security review

Broad access

This skill asks for more access than most, or sends data to another service. That is usually a design choice rather than bad intent, but you should know before you install it.

  • Pre-approves broad shell commandsMost skills list bare Bash (unrestricted shell) in allowed-tools alongside stitch*:*, Read, Write and web_fetch, so shell commands run without a prompt; this applies to react-components, react-native, react-vite-dashboard, remotion, shadcn-ui, code-to-design, extract-design-md, extract-static-html, generate-design, manage-design-system, upload-to-stitch and stitch-loop.plugins/stitch-design/skills/upload-to-stitch/SKILL.md:8

Google Labs skills for turning Stitch designs into code and uploading assets back to Stitch. Nearly all skills pre-approve unrestricted Bash, and the upload skill has the agent pull your Stitch API key from agent MCP config files and pass it on a command line to Google's Stitch API after you confirm the files. Several skills run unpinned npx tools and install npm packages.

Worth knowing

  • Needs an API key for its own serviceThe skill tells the agent to read your Stitch API key from MCP config files such as ~/.claude.json, ~/.gemini/settings.json or the Antigravity config and pass it to upload_to_stitch.py as a --api-key command-line argument, which sends it as X-Goog-Api-Key to https://stitch.googleapis.com (or a --api-url taken from the same MCP config); it first requires user confirmation of the files to upload.plugins/stitch-design/skills/upload-to-stitch/SKILL.md:30
  • Makes network requestsScripts curl the HTML and image download URLs returned by the Stitch MCP server, upload_to_stitch.py POSTs files to the Stitch API, and snapshot.ts drives headless Chrome (Puppeteer) to fetch pages and assets you point it at.plugins/stitch-build/skills/react-components/scripts/fetch-stitch.sh:23
  • Runs remote code at an unpinned versionSkills run unpinned npx commands such as npx shadcn, npx create-next-app, npx tsx, npx remotion, npx serve, npx expo and npx @google/design.md.plugins/stitch-build/skills/shadcn-ui/README.md:102
  • Installs packages or toolsThe static-HTML skill needs Puppeteer (downloads Chromium) and the build skills install npm packages into your project.plugins/stitch-design/skills/extract-static-html/SKILL.md:61

What we checked

The repository (88 files) on Oct 29, 2026. Not a full review: we read 2 of 28 code files; it relies on code outside the repository: Stitch MCP server and Stitch API (stitch.googleapis.com), shadcn and Remotion MCP/CLIs, and npm packages installed by the skills; Not read in full: snapshot.ts, extract_inline_html.ts, post_process.ts, validate.js files, remotion download script and verify-setup.sh (inspected by grep for network, browser launch and file operations).

NVIDIA SkillSpector static scan: 149 pattern hits (MCP Rug Pull 138, Agent Snooping 6, Output Handling 2, Supply Chain 2, System Prompt Leakage 1). About 138 of 149 hits are unpinned npx mentions in documentation. The two Agent Snooping hits are the upload skill's instruction to find the Stitch key in MCP config files (described above) and a skill listing available MCP servers; 'no size limit' refers to writing HTML to a file.

A review, not a certification. Skills change after we check them — read the files before installing.

License

Apache-2.0 — commercial use allowed.

Can it run unattended?

Yes. stitch-loop is built as a baton-passing loop that keeps its next task in .stitch/next-prompt.md and validates each page, so it can continue across iterations if something drives it; a person should still review the output.

FAQ

What are Stitch Skills?

A Google Labs collection of agent skills for the Stitch design tool, covering design generation, design-system management, and conversion of Stitch screens to React, React Native, dashboards and videos.

How do I install Stitch Skills in Claude Code?

Run npx plugins add google-labs-code/stitch-skills --scope project --target claude-code, or npx skills add google-labs-code/stitch-skills to pick individual skills. Set up the Stitch MCP server first.

Do Stitch Skills work without the Stitch MCP server?

No. The README lists the Stitch MCP server as a prerequisite, and skills such as react-components call its tools to fetch screens.

Stitch Skills vs impeccable or other design skills?

Stitch Skills connect an agent to Google Stitch projects and generate code from them. Skills such as impeccable or taste-skill give general design guidance without needing a design tool.
