md2wechat Claude skills
A CLI plus agent skill that converts Markdown into WeChat Official Account HTML, makes covers and images, and pushes drafts to the WeChat draft box.
Useful for WeChat publishing, but the best output needs a paid API key and the license restricts commercial use.
What md2wechat does
md2wechat is a command-line tool, wrapped in an agent skill, for writing and publishing WeChat Official Account articles. The skill tells the agent which command family to use. For a normal article it runs inspect to check title, summary, images and draft readiness, then preview and convert to produce WeChat-ready HTML, and optionally creates a draft in the WeChat account. Other commands generate covers and infographics, write in creator styles, suggest titles, and strip AI writing traces.
There are two modes. The free AI mode only produces a prompt that the host agent or an outside model has to turn into HTML, with three basic themes. The paid professional API mode returns finished HTML using 48 themes and the project's advanced layout modules, and needs an md2wechat API key. A separate flow prepares text for drafts on Zhihu, CSDN, Toutiao and the Tencent Cloud developer community, where the agent drives a browser you are already logged into. The skill folder has about 15 KB of instructions plus 11 reference files. The CLI itself is installed from npm and its source is not part of the copy we reviewed. The license is source-available, not open source.
Good for
- Chinese-language writers publishing to WeChat Official Accounts
- Agents that need a checked, repeatable path from Markdown to a WeChat draft
- Teams that already pay for or plan to buy the md2wechat API
Not for
- Commercial use without a commercial license
- People who want fully free, fully local conversion
- Anyone not publishing to Chinese platforms

Dependencies and costs
- md2wechat CLI from npm (@geekjourneyx/md2wechat)
- MD2WECHAT_API_KEY for the paid API mode
- WeChat Official Account credentials and an IP whitelist for drafts
- A logged-in browser and agent-browser for Zhihu, CSDN and Toutiao drafts
- Telemetry: none found in the files we read; in API mode your article text is sent to the md2wechat service.
Security review
Review before installingA Markdown skill that tells the agent how to drive the md2wechat CLI for WeChat article formatting, drafts and image posts, plus optional draft syncing through your logged-in browser. Content goes to the md2wechat and WeChat APIs and the work is done by an external CLI and browser tools that are not in this repo. Most of the repository is missing from our copy.
Worth knowing
- browser_session_optionalOnly when you ask to sync a draft to Zhihu, CSDN, Toutiao or Tencent Cloud, the skill has the agent operate your already-logged-in browser (Computer Use, or agent-browser with --auto-connect) to paste content and upload images; it saves drafts only.skills/md2wechat/references/sync/workflow.md:3
- Makes network requestsAPI mode sends your article text to the md2wechat service using MD2WECHAT_API_KEY, and WeChat upload, draft and image-post actions call WeChat's API with your Official Account credentials; side effects are to be run only when you ask.skills/md2wechat/SKILL.md:102
- Needs an API key for its own serviceMD2WECHAT_API_KEY goes to md2wechat.cn, WeChat AppID/Secret to WeChat, and IMAGE_API_KEY to the chosen image provider; the skill says config discovery never prints WeChat secrets.skills/md2wechat/SKILL.md:104
- Relies on a CLI or package we could not reviewThe skill only operates the md2wechat CLI (README installs
npm install -g @geekjourneyx/md2wechat@3.8.0) and optionally agent-browser; none of that code is in this repo, andmd2wechat skills readreturns an SOP embedded in the CLI binary that the skill says to prefer over the repo copy.skills/md2wechat/SKILL.md:8 - Runs remote code at an unpinned versionSuggests

What we checked
The repository (372 files) on Oct 29, 2026. Not a full review: 345 of 372 files were not downloaded (large repository; we reviewed the skill folders); it relies on code outside the repository: md2wechat CLI (@geekjourneyx/md2wechat on npm; the Go source and 345 other repo files are not in our copy), the md2wechat API service, WeChat Official Account API, image providers; agent-browser npm package and the automation browser it downloads; Embedded SOPs inside the CLI binary, which the skill prefers over the repo files.
NVIDIA SkillSpector static scan: 0 pattern hits. SkillSpector reported no hits. The repo copy we have is Markdown only (skills/md2wechat and an OpenClaw variant) with no executable files.
A review, not a certification. Skills change after we check them — read the files before installing.
License
Source Available License (GitHub reports NOASSERTION): free for personal, learning, evaluation and non-profit use; commercial use, SaaS, client delivery and redistribution need a commercial license.
Can it run unattended?
Not really. Drafts and uploads are explicit side effects that the skill expects you to check first, so it is interactive.
